I am very passionate about the environment and reducing my impact on this planet. This initiative plays a role in all aspects of my life, including my career. When I entered the real estate business I got caught up with the notion that to be a successful realtor you have to do certain things to get business, no exceptions.
I tried it for a while but I decided to approach my career in a way which looked at how I can be an effective realtor without using the conventional methods in the industry. I stopped sending out mass print media mail-outs in 2010 and have drastically cut down majority of print media altogether. This has resulted in me reducing my paper consumption by over 95%.
I have also taken the effort to convert my listing presentations to a completely computer based platform and all contract documents are made using recycled paper. In 2012 I will be calculating my carbon footprint through vehicle usage and will contribute to various initiatives to pay three times the recommended amount to offset my impact. In addition to this I communicate with members of the Green Party of Ontario who keep me up to date with different causes and charities. In 2012 I will begin donating a portion of every dollar I earn towards worthwhile causes. We only have one planet and our actions today will determine whether future generations of all living beings will have a healthy place to call home.
